Hytera\'s GM8MI17 is a remote field unit (RFU), specifically designed for DMR Tier III trunking. This low-cost RFU is extremely reliable and efficient in coverage and power, and provides an ideal solution for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The GM8MI17 offers support for two working modes: wideband and narrowband. In wideband mode, it supports a frequency range of UHF: 400~470MHz. In narrowband mode, it supports a range of VHF: 136~174MHz; UHF: 400~470MHz. It has a four-channel frequency offset and multiple channel speeds (9.6/19.2/38.4/76.8 kbps(ETSI Tier III)).

The GM8MI17 offers a range of features, including an LCD backlight screen, Frequency Search function, Channel Group and Monitor Group functions, Emergency calls and SMS, remote monitoring of independent/group calls, and group call recording. It also supports remote PC programming, permitting field units to be programmed remotely.

The GM8MI17 RFU also offers outstanding power consumption, up to 8 Watt in low power mode, and 5 Watt in deep power mode, both while in talk, idle or standby modes. This provides significant power savings and longer operating times.

The working principle of GM8MI17 is based on the modulation technique of digital audio compression technology, symbol stream processing technology and modern communication network technology. The RF signal is modulated and transmitted on the carrier frequency by the RF transceiver. When the signal is received, it is demodulated and decoded, then combined with the audio compression and symbol stream processing technology to generate comparable symbol streams. Finally, the symbol stream is mapped to the original audio and datastream.
