The GP168MTR-G1 is an off-line switcher with operating temperature range from -40 to +85℃. It is capable of integrating a high voltage DIP package monolithic AC/DC converter with a maximum power of 168 W, and is suitable for UL60950-1 LED lighting applications. It is characterized by small package size, high reliability, low system cost, with no minimum load requirement for open-frame type applications.

The GP168MTR-G1 has two operating modes, discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) and continuous conduction mode (CCM). Its key features include:

The working principle of the GP168MTR-G1 AC/DC switcher is relatively simple. The device receives AC or DC input power, and then the internal high voltage switching MOSFET is used to convert the input voltage into higher voltage. When the output voltage reaches the value set by the user, the driver stops to the output power for as long as necessary to achieve the steady-state output voltage. The pulse-skip mode may also be used to temporarily drop the output voltage for power saving. The power saving allows the device to reduce its power consumption by automatically shutting down the output stage when the output load current drops below the minimum operating current.
