The gas molecules are ionized when subjected to high voltage, and this ionization effect creates a stream of electrons from the negative to the positive electrode. This creates a low-resistance path between the two electrodes, thus absorbing the high voltage surges and safeguarding sensitive equipment.The other part of the GTCS25-251M-R02-2 arrester, the MOV, provides a second stage of protection.
