Optoisolators are a type of electrical isolator that use a visible or infrared light emitting diode (LED) to transmit information between two circuits. H11AA1-X009 is a miniature surface mount transistors output optoisolator designed for switching signals from low voltages CMOS and digital logic circuits. It provides high isolation voltage (19.5kV) between input and output and can drive high capacitive loads which enable the use in various electronic devices.

Applications

H11AA1-X009 is used for signal isolation in many applications. It is typically used in industrial and consumer applications, including Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV), Industrial Automation, PLCs, Motor Control and Home Appliances. Working Principle

H11AA1-X009 consists of an LED that is optically coupled to a high-gain silicon planar phototriac output transistors. When the LED is turned on by the input detected in the input circuit, the light generated by the LED strikes the phototriac and causes a trigger. This trigger will cause the gate of the phototriac to turn "ON," and the sink current will flow from the drain to the source, which turns the output "ON" or "OFF."

The output of the optoisolator consists of two pins: the output pin and the common pin. The output pin is the output signal. When the output pin is connected to the common pin, the optoisolator is OFF. When the output pin is connected to power (switched ON), then the optoisolator is ON. When the LED is turned "OFF," the phototriac will turn "OFF" and the sink current stops flowing, which causes the output to be OFF.

The output of the H11AA1-X009 can drive up to 500mA load. The two pins of the optoisolator can be configured to provide either two complementary outputs (SPST) or two independent outputs (DPST). The input voltage is 5V and the current is less than 0.1mA. It has a trigger LED current of 5mA and the output current is 500mA.

H11AA1-X009 features low crosstalk, which is the amount of transfer of signal from one circuit to the other and High Speed, which is the time required for the output of the optoisolator to transition from "ON" to "OFF" or vice versa. The H11AA1 also offers great temperature stability, having an operating temperature range from -40°C to +80°C.
