H4P105RDZA Application Field and Working Principle

The H4P105RDZA is a through-hole resistor type. It is a three-terminal resistor which provides perfect protection against defective equipments, primarily because it is designed to sustain overheating and short circuits without any significant breakdown. For vehicles, the H4P105RDZA is ideal for use in the common chassis signal and lighting circuits as well as other critical components that must handle extreme voltage surges.The design of the H4P105RDZA relies on two main components, the electrode and the resistive component. The electrode has a high voltage capable of resisting short circuit surges, which is then connected to the resistive component which dissipates the unwanted excessive voltage that may be present in the equipment. The two components are joined together by means of a bonded leach strip over which the current flows. A special coating of high temperature solder is used to ensure the components are securely bonded together.The working principle of the H4P105RDZA is based on a fundamental thermal process within the resistor body. A high current passing through the resistor body is converted to heat which in turn is dissipated either as heat loss or a voltage drop. This voltage drop is what is known as the resistance of the resistor. Since the resistance is temperature dependent, the amount of current will, therefore, drop as the temperature increases.The working of the H4P105RDZA is further refined by the use of special electrodes which have a high voltage tolerant wetting layer between them. The wetting layer helps to evenly disperse the electric current over the two electrodes thereby ensuring the voltage distribution across the resistor is even and minimal overshoot occurs.Since the H4P105RDZA is a through-hole resistor type, it is suitable for applications that must withstand extreme temperatures. This makes it ideal for a wide range of applications such as medical and power control applications.
