HIH-4020-003 is a combined humidity and temperature sensing module for accurate humidity and temperature measurement. It measures relative humidity (RH) in the range of 0-100%, relative humidity accuracy to ±3.5% in the range of 10-90% and temperature accuracy range up to ±0.2oC. It is used in various applications such as air conditioned environment monitoring and energy management.

The HIH-4020-003 is a low power, digitally compensated humidity/temperature sensor, ideal for applications needing high accuracy with minimal drift over time and temperature. Its applications range from humidity monitoring in air conditioning plants to bio-medical control, industrial process control and energy management. Working Principle

The HIH-4020-003 is a dual-bonded component built in a TO-92 package. It contains a sensing element consisting of an absolute humidity sensing element and an accurate temperature sensor. The sensing element achieves accurate humidity readings with the help of a unique built-in calibration, best suited for air conditioning monitoring and recommendations. The temperature sensor allows the humidity calibration to automatically adjust for any temperature drift. The sensed data is then sent to a digital controller inside the TO-92 package. The digital controller processes the temperature and humidity readings information which is then sent to an external microcontroller for further process.

An intelligent diagnostics feature is also present inside the HIH-4020-003. It monitors the operational performance of the humidity sensort and detects conditions that require recalibration or reset of the sensing element for integrity of the humidity sensing system. Consequently, this mechanism ensures that only accurate humidity readings are sent to the microcontroller.
