The HMC652 is an ultra-low power, wideband, monolithic CMOS digital attenuator designed to enable the full range of control and flexibility for gain and level settings in communication systems. It is suitable for use in many applications, including automated test systems, RF/microwave signal conditioning systems, and data acquisition and analysis applications.In wireless communications, the HMC652 offers an efficient way to reduce or increase the power of a signal. By providing a low- noise, wideband, digitally-controlled variable attenuator, the HMC652 can manage the relative power levels of signals in signal conditioning and RF transmitter systems. It is also available in two alternative versions, the HMC652-SD and the HMC652-P, for applications requiring more attenuation and linearity.The working principle of the HMC652 is based on the fact that it uses a wideband, digitally-controlled attenuator to control the relative power levels of the signals. The attenuator is connected to an analog signal in order to keep the power of the input equal to the specified setting. The attenuator is connected to a digital signal which provides a control signal to the attenuator.
