RF mixers are circuit elements used to convert an input signal to an output signal at a different frequency. The resistively-fused resistors supply the control voltage required by the mixer core unit, dynamically controlling its operation in full gain or gain-off modes.
The HMC684LP4ETR contains a low-noise (NF) amplifier integrated in the mixer input buffer stage. This linear amplifier delivers an excellent conversion gain over its entire operating range with a typical 3 dB noise figure for applications requiring low noise. The two-in-one double balun architecture ensures high linearity performance with very low distortion compared to single balanced RF/LO pinouts.
The HMC684LP4ETR can also be used as a frequency converter in the conversion of signals between two frequency bands.
