The HMR3601-DEMO is an evaluation module for the Honeywell HumidIcon Digital Humidity Sensor. This fully-integrated evaluation module includes, an amplifier, gain adjustment circuit, temperature compensation and digital output selection to allow faster design evaluation and prototype development. By packaging all these components in a single module it saves valuable circuit board estate, money and precious time at the design stage. This sensor is a perfect choice for any environment, ranging from precision laboratory use to consumer product applications.

The HMR3601-DEMO is designed for prototyping and evaluation of the Honeywell HMR3601 humidity sensor. The output from the HMR3601-DEMO is routed to the on-board 8 bit resolution digital-to-analog converter (DAC). Through the DAC, the humidity data can be read and displayed digitally. The latest software offers multiple data outputs in Celsius, Fahrenheit, and relative humidity. Depending on the requirements, temperature ranges from -40°C to +85°C can also be selected.

The HMR3601-DEMO evaluation module is based on the Honeywell HumidIcon™ Digital Humidity Sensor. This monolithic integrated circuit combines a Humidity Sensing Element and an Analog to Digital Signal Converter. The output of the A/D is a 4-bit digital word representing the measured relative humidity in a range of 0-100%. The HMR3601 is a temperature compensated digital output humidity sensor that is cost effective, accurate, long term stable and consumes very little power.

The HMR3601-DEMO operates off a single +5V DC voltage source and supports 14-pin single-in-line-package (SIP) insertion. Included in the kit are digital and analog output selectors as well as a debug port. The debug port, located at the bottom of the board, is used for system calibration, voltage regulation and signal integrity testing. Moreover, the HMR3601-DEMO includes a two-stage gain adjustment circuit. This circuit is used to optimize the sensor’s response time and perceptively reduce any possible time delay induced due to the moisture absorption and vaporization of the humidity sensing element.
