HT14G A0G Application Field and Working PrincipleThe HT14G A0G is a part of the family of single-phase, silicon rectifier diodes. It is mainly composed of a semiconducting PN junction. In its operation it provides a low forward voltage drop and a low reverse leakage current. This type of diode has a variety of possible applications, including but not limited to: power supply circuits, wave shaping circuits, voltage clamping, input protection and over current protection. Rectifier OperationThe basic function of the rectifier diode is to rectify or convert alternating current (AC) voltage input into direct current (DC) voltage output. This is achieved with its PN junction, which is formed when two different types of semiconductor material are formed together. When the PN junction is treated a certain way, it can act as a rectifier or non-linear device. These diodes are often used in power supplies because of their capability to provide a low output voltage that is compatible with the input voltage.In normal operation, as the AC voltage increases, the diode will start to conduct and will reach a point at which the current draw is at its peak. At this point, the voltage across the diode will remain constant and the diode will be said to be forward biased. The circuit then begins to fall into what is known as the “on-state” where the current that the diode is drawing is maintained at a fixed level, determined by the winding equation. The voltage across the diode will remain constant until the current begins to fall, when the diode will fall into a “reverse bias” mode and start to draw significantly less current.HT14G A0G Specifications and FeaturesThe HT14G A0G silicon rectifier diode is a low cost, low power component designed for use in power supplies and other non-dissipative applications. Its operating voltage range is between 0.2 and 400V. It can handle currents up to 12A, however, its maximum dissipation at a low temperature range of 25° C is only 0.5W. It features a low forward voltage drop of 0.6V and a low reverse leakage current of 0.8µA at 8V.In terms of mechanical specifications, the HT14G A0G diode has a physical size of 3.2mm x 3.2mm and is packaged in an industry-standard TO39 package. In addition, it is rated for temperatures between -50° C and 125° C.
