A thyristor (or controlled rectifier) is an electronic device that functions as a switch by controlling the flow of electricity through a circuit by controlling thebi-directional switching capability of electrical power. The HT36BRP is a Triac thyristor, which is useful in many applications and has a maximum load current ratingof 3A. It is a two-wire or two-terminal device, with the gate terminal controlling the power output.
In general, the HT36BRP is used in AC power control applications, for example for phase angle control in AC power supplies, where it is used to regulate the duration of power delivered to the load. The device is also widely used for light dimmers, heating controllers, and pulse width modulation applications.

The HT36BRP is a Triac thyristor, which is usually used in AC power control applications such as phase angle control and light dimmers. As its name suggests, it can turn electrical current on and off in both directions. The HT36BRP works in three directions and thus has an asymmetric transfer curve.
The HT36BRP also has a gate voltage rating of 1.2V and a trigger current rating of 5mA. At a minimum gate voltage of 1.2V and a minimum trigger current of 5mA, the device can be triggered. When the minimum gate voltage and the minimum trigger current are applied to the thyristor, a conduction path is created between the cathode and the anode.
At the same time, a positive voltage is required at the gate terminal to keep the conduction path open. When the applied voltage increases beyond a certain level, the current flow increases, until finally, the reverse voltage begins to rise. This reverse voltage is known as the breakdown voltage, and it is the voltage at which the device begins to auto-commutate current to the load.
The HT36BRP is designed for applications that require high frequency switching and for AC power control applications such as phase angle control, light dimmers and pulse width modulation. It is an excellent choice for those applications due to its low power dissipation, low turn-on voltage, high current capability and high surge current capability. With the HT36BRP, users can control the amount of power delivered to the load, and it works in both directions in order to provide a wide range of applications.
