A thyristor (or controlled rectifier) is an electronic device that functions as a switch by controlling the flow of electricity through a circuit by controlling thebi-directional switching capability of electrical power. The HT36BRP is a Triac thyristor, which is useful in many applications and has a maximum load current ratingof 3A. This reverse voltage is known as the breakdown voltage, and it is the voltage at which the device begins to auto-commutate current to the load.

The HT36BRP is designed for applications that require high frequency switching and for AC power control applications such as phase angle control, light dimmers and pulse width modulation. It is an excellent choice for those applications due to its low power dissipation, low turn-on voltage, high current capability and high surge current capability.
