The HTZ120A32K is a diode array consisting of four pairs of serially connected Schottky diodes housed in a small, two-pin surface-mount package. Its application field and working principle lie in rectification, polarity protection, and ESD/transient voltage protection in electronic circuits.

The HTZ120A32K has a low forward voltage drop and low leakage current, making it ideal for circuits with high forward current requirements. This diode array is designed to offer enhanced protection from voltage spikes, lightning, and ESD pulses, commonly found in industrial or residential environments.

The working principle of the HTZ120A32K relies on the PN junction formed between two p-type and n-type semiconductor materials. Annealing the junction in an electric field forms a depletion zone that acts as an insulator, preventing current from flowing through. When a reverse voltage is applied, the depletion zone narrows, allowing current to flow through the diode, a process commonly referred to as rectification.

A single HTZ120A32K device can replace up to four individual diodes, removing the need for four separate pins and reducing size, cost and complexity. The device is designed to protect circuits from high voltages up to 32 V and has a breakdown current of 180 Arms. It is also ideal for clamped-mode ESD protection.
