The ICL7650CSA+ is a general-purpose, rail-to-rail input/output CMOS instrumentation amplifier (IA) designed to be compatible with standard operational amplifier circuitry. The device is intended for precisionamplification of analog voltage signalsor current in high performance systems. The ICL7650CSA+ is capable of delivering both high gain and low gain performance with a single device, and is free of crossover distortion, making it ideal for a range of piezoelectric, thermocouple and strain gauge transducers, as well as for data acquisition, audio and medical systems.

The ICL7650CSA+ operates from a single power supply and draws as little as 10μA of supply current at 3V, consuming only 0.6mW. The device can also operate on dual supplies if desired and is rated for operation from 4.0 to 36V for either case. The device has both an input offset voltage and an output offset voltage. The input offset voltage is very low, typically in the range of 1mV, and the output offset voltage is very low, typically in the range of 500μV.

The ICL7650CSA+ is designed to operate with a wide range of feedback resistors, allowing custom gains of up to 200V/V continuously adjustable over a range of 10:1. The device’s wide supply voltage range and stable performance allow application options that range from precision measurement systems to programmable gain amplifiers.

The ICL7650CSA+ is based on a positive gain-bandwidth product operational amplifier topology and utilizes a unique overcompensation technique for rail-to-rail common mode range linearity and input impedance. This design features a differential, low-impedance input buffer, a low-impedance output buffer, and a gain-set network all constructed from precision CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) devices.

The ICL7650CSA+ uses a complementary-symmetry input topology with a single-ended output. The device’s differential input voltage range is from – VDD to + VDD, and the single-ended output voltage range is from – VDD to + VDD. The output voltage is linear with input voltage when the gain-set resistors are equal, allowing unity gain operation with a single resistor.

The device operates over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and is available in 8-pin SOIC, 8-pin MSOP, and 10-pin TSSOP packages. This device is designed to meet robust noise immunity requirements, EMI emissions control standards, and industrial communication protocols including I2C and SPI. All necessary components are included in the ICL7650CSA+ package to form a functional single-supply, low-offset, unity gain amplifier.
