ICL7660SCBA is a adjustable low power DC to DC converter, suitable to numerous applications where a low-side switched-capacitor converter is needed. The ICL7660SCBA provides a negative output voltage adjustable from -0.05V to -18V using an input voltage from 2.5 to 18V. The output voltage is adjustable with an external reference voltage. It also features a low quiescent current of only 8uA.

The ICL7660SCBA achieves good performance including low ripple, low power dissipation, high efficiency, excellent regulation, fast transient response and stability over temperature and input voltage variations. The ICL7660SCBA provides a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) control leading to high-efficiency switching regulators, and allows the switching frequency to be adjusted externally. The ICL7660SCBA operates by charging and discharging a series capacitor, to and from an output node via switches (MOSFETs) controlled by logic within the IC. A higher output voltage is maintained by increased charging cycles, the amount of cycles being determined by the on/off times of the two switches in the PWM loop.
