ICS601G-01 is an application-specific clock generator and frequency synthesizer developed by Integrated Circuit Systems (ICS). The device is specifically designed to generate frequency reference clocks and synthesize clock signals of fixed frequency, variable frequency, and spread-spectrum frequency operation where desired. It offers fully integrated clock generating, distribution, frequency synthesizing, jitter attenuation and clock conditioning functions in one package.This device is targeted for the use in communications, industrial, and consumer applications. It is suitable for communications networking systems such as 10GE Optical networks, Ethernet and 3G/4G mobile communications systems. Industrial applications include data acquisition systems, LVDS, OCT, SATA, and SGMII serial communications. For consumer applications, such as USB device, ICS601G-01 can also be employed to generate the clock signals needed.The ICS601G-01 is housed in a 5mm x 5mm Quad Flat No-Lead (QFN) package. It contains a high-performance clock generator, an advanced frequency synthesizer, a jitter attenuator, a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), and a programmable frequency divider. Its output clock accepts crystal frequencies ranging from 100MHz to 300MHz; whereas, the input supply voltage must be between 4.5V and 3.3V.The clock generator in the ICS601G-01 device allows it to generate different clock structures such as differential spikes, HCSL, and low skew clock structures. The input crystal frequency can be derived from a single crystal or dual crystal setup, with considerable flexibility in terms of frequency selection. The VCO allows the device to generate outputs having a frequency which is much higher than the fundamental crystal frequency that provides frequency multiplication capability. The frequency synthesizer allows programming of output frequencies from very low to very high ranging from 1MHz to 2GHz. The advanced jitter attenuator further enables synchronization of various signals, with on-chip loop filters for improved noise immunity. This clock generator also provides for simple dedicated programming and monitoring interfaces for software control or hardware programming.ICS601G-01 can offer improved total integration, space savings, and lower system cost. It thus simplifies board design and reduces time-to-market.
