ICS671M-01 is a high-performance clock generator and 14-bit frequency synthesizer for frequency control applications requiring extremely high frequency accuracy. It is a monolithic CMOS device specifically designed for clock and frequency synthesis applications such as data communications, computer peripherals, and digitally controlled oscillators (DCOs).
The ICS671M-01 contains all the necessary control logic and frequency control elements to generate and synthesize both reference and output clocks. It operates from an external high efficiency Xtal oscillator, crystal Oscillator, or Lattice® ECPLL® Clock synthesis core. It has an internal voltage detector that can be used to detect the presence of an input supply voltage. This feature is useful in applications where an external supply voltage is required, such as a 3.3V logic bus.
The ICS671M-01 features an on-chip clock generator that generates two separately programmable output clocks. Each output can be programmed to generate a specific frequency, with a frequency range of 0.25 Hz to 66 MHz. Using the frequency selection bits available on the device, the user can program the generated clock to a specific frequency. The device can be programmed to create numerous output frequencies, including a fixed frequency (square wave or sine wave) or a phase-modulated frequency.
The device includes an integrated phase-locked loop (PLL) circuit, which allows the output frequency to be remotely controlled by an external clock source or a nanosecond-accurate frequency synthesizer. The device can be configured for various operating modes, such as synchronization with a control signal, microcontroller-controlled frequency synthesis, and serial communication-based frequency control. Additionally, the integrated Xtal oscillator provides an additional level of accuracy and reliability in clock frequency output applications, with enhanced stability in applications involving high-speed data transmission.
The ICS671M-01 also features an integrated jitter filter, which provides low-jitter output clock signals, even when the external frequency is not ideal. This helps reduce the effects of spurious signals on the frequency output and ensures accurate operation and data integrity. Furthermore, the device supports programmable cycle-by-cycle phase offset control, allowing for improved marsoform performance and crosstalk rejection in digital or mixed-signal applications.
The ICS671M-01 is ideally suited for timing and frequency control applications requiring high precision and accuracy. Its phase-locked loop and frequency synthesis capabilities make it ideal for frequency generation, phase synchronization and frequency hopping applications.
