IFX1117GSV is a linear voltage regulator that is part of a family of voltage regulators from International Rectifier (IR). Its primary application field is to provide regulated supply and load currents for use in a wide range of electronic devices. It is designed to be used in automotive, industrial and consumer applications.IFX1117GSV is a low dropout (LDO) linear regulator specifically designed to power logic circuits, and provide an adjustable output voltage of 0.8V to 5.5V. This regulator is designed to help save board space and cost, while delivering exceptionally low dropout voltage, low quiescent current, excellent line and load regulation, fast settling time and very good ripple rejection.The IFX1117GSV linear regulator is available in a Dual-in-line 4-pin Package (DIP 4). It has a typical thermal resistance from case to ambient of 30°C/W, and an ambient operating temperature range from 0°C to 85°C. Furthermore, it is capable of delivering up to 200mA of output current and can operate with a total output power of 1W.Another noteworthy feature of the IFX1117GSV is its Low Output Voltage Detect (LOVD) circuitry. This circuitry sets a fault condition if the output voltage drops below 0.7V. It is triggered by shutdown current, which is 3.5 times greater than the load current, to protect the downstream circuitry.The working principle of the IFX1117GSV linear voltage regulator is based on the concept of comparing a reference voltage to the feedback ground loop of the device. The feedback reference voltage sets the output voltage of the regulator.The feedback voltage is typically created using a bandgap voltage reference. This voltage is adjusFTed by a resistor connected to the feedback pin of the device. This adjusts the output voltage of the regulator.The IFX1117GSV regulator consists of an N-channel MOSFET pass transistor, a low dropout (LDO) regulator, and an error amplifier. The error amplifier compares the desired output voltage with the voltage sensed at the feedback pin. When the two signals do not match, the error amplifier triggers the pass transistor to increase or decrease the current flow from the VCC to GND pins, which enables the regulator to keep the output voltage constant.The LDO regulator acts as a buffer between the pass transistor and the error amplifier.
