Digital Isolators can be used to provide a path of electrical isolation that eliminates potential hazards to electronic devicesfrom high voltages and increased input impedances. The IL262VE is a new type of optisolator with digital output, specifically designed for automotive applications. With its outstanding performance and excellent signal integrity, it is suitable for high-demand applications in automotive control and communication.

The IL262VE can be divided into two categories, digital output optocouplers and digital isolation. Among them, digital isolation works by using a transformer or a capacitor to bridge the isolation voltage gap, inserting a narrow optical path between the external high voltage and the electronic circuits. The digital optical link isolator IC IL262VE provides a path of electrical isolation that eliminates potential hazards to electronic devices from increased input impedances.

The working principle of the IL262VE is to establish a high voltage barrier between the input pin of the optocoupler and the outputs by intercepting the optical signal. When the input voltage is high, the internal LED will turn on, projecting light onto a photosensitive transistor, which then switches on a transistor responsible for transferring the output to the pin of a digital logic circuit. This allows the input pin to accurately reflect the input voltage level without any interference from high voltage, electromagnetic noise or power supply interference.

The IL262VE features a wide operating voltage range of up to 14 V, allowing it to be used in almost any automotive environment. It also offers low power consumption, and low signal distortion compared to traditional optocouplers. In addition, the high input resistance of the IL262VE eliminates the need for an output resistor, preventing signal loss through simple overcurrent protection.

The IL262VE is also protected from reverse voltage and current transients, as well as from short circuits. This improves the safety of automotive systems, as it helps to protect the parts of the system from potentially damaging feedback.
