IL3585 is an integrated digital isolator designed to address challenges of galvanic isolation. It allows information to be transferred between two units of a system without any direct electrical connection. As a digital isolator, IL3585 is made up of a transmitter driver on the input side and a receiver on the output side. The working principle of IL3585 can be broken down into three elements: the transmitter side, the receiver side and the coupled transformer. The isolator features a 6-pin components that includes two buses, a bus-bypass switch, and a transmitting control sense module on the transmitter side. On the receiver side, there are two logic inputs and a device enable signal pin. In the middle of the isolator is a coupled transformer which functions to transfer signals over the air gap without any physical connection.
In a nutshell, the working principle of IL3585 is basically that signals from the transmitting side will be deterred by the driver, amplified and transferred by the coupled transformer to the receiver side. The logic inputs on the receiver side will then receive and process the signal, and the device enable signal will turn on the receiver and start the subsequent process. Finally, the output will be generated on the receiving side according to the processed signal.
