The INA128U is an integrated, low power, low noise, current-feedback instrumentation amplifier designed for use in a variety of analog and digital applications. The device utilizes a minimum number of external components to achieve a wide range of gain configurations from a single gain setting of 1 to a maximum of 81. The current-feedback architecture ensures low output impedance, fast frequency response, and wide bandwidth.The amplifier is designed for low-voltage, single-supply operation and is available in the two-wire serial interface format. This format offers a high degree of flexibility and convenience for controlling the amplifier gain and other features. Additionally, the amplifier\'s rail-to-rail output swing allows it to drive load impedances as low as 600Ω while consuming low power of only 2mA.The INA128U also offers exceptional output headroom and over-current protection as well as excellent CMRR and PSRR performance over a wide range of supply voltages and temperatures. The INA128U is a single-stage instrumentation amplifier designed to accept a small, low-level differential signal as an input and amplify it in the presence of common-mode interference signals that usually accompany a differential signal. The amplifier uses an active current-feedback scheme instead of a traditional voltage-feedback scheme, which allows it to achieve high gain bandwidth product, low input offset voltage, and high common-mode rejection ratio.The input amplifier is a three-stage, differential-to-single-ended structure with two matched bipolar transistors in the input stage and two other transistors in the last stage. The input stage includes the two matched bipolar transistors connected in a differential common-base configuration, providing a high level of linearity and gain. A third bipolar transistor is connected as a common-collector configuration to act as a voltage gain stage, providing voltage amplification with low gain-bandwidth product, low distortion, and low noise.The output stage is a current-feedback combination of two transistors and an operational amplifier (OPAMP), providing the total gain desired from the amplifier. The current feedback output circuit is designed to drive even the smallest loads with minimal ringing and ringing can be adjusted by external components. This output stage also allows for an extended bandwidth and frequency and offers excellent over-current protection. The overall result is a low-noise, low-distortion amplifier with good common-mode rejection, high slew rate, adjustable output stage overload protection, and low power consumption. In addition to its excellent performance, the INA128U also features enhanced system-level protection, such as a built-in ESD protection to guard against damage from electrostatic discharge, thermal protection to avoid damage from overheating, and over-current protection. The amplifier also supports an integrated low voltage logic reference for easy integration into other ICs and systems.Conclusion
