IPS5451S

IPS5451S is a highly integrated 6-channel power management IC (PMIC) designed for providing power for LED lighting products. It is constructed as a single monolithic integrated circuit with low RDson and integrated protection functions.

IPS5451S Application Field

The IPS5451S is mainly used in LED lighting application fields such as LED commercial or industrial lighting, LED ceiling lamps, LED street lamps, LED project lights, LED wall washers, LED ground lights, LED canopy lights, LED garden lights, LED tunnel lights and LED lightbars. It can also be used for other applications, including general purpose power management, battery management, energy harvesting and more.

IPS5451S Working Principle

The IPS5451S consists of 6-channel power devices including Buck, Boost, Buck/Boost, and Buck/Boost/Inverting conversion topologies. Integrated over current protection, switch node voltage monitoring, and over temperature protection provide reliable power management. Four output protective functions are embedded into the device for output short circuit protection and open circuit protection.

The Buck conversion topologies enable an output voltage range of 0.45V to 5.5V. The device supports a wide input voltage range of 6V to 24V. Output current of each channel can be set up to 7A under 25℃ ambient temperature. There are options of three types of synchronization control: master clock synchronization, output tracking, and power saving mode. All the on-chip components are conforming to the ISO26262 standard.

The IPS5451S also integrates an external temperature control device with a minimum adjustable temperature range of -40°C to 150°C. A multi-channel communications interface provides I2C, S0/S1, and PWM/PFM/PDM . The output voltage accuracy, power line voltage accuracy, and load regulation are respectively 1%, 0.4%, and 1%.
