IRPP3637-06A is an off-line SMPS (Switched Mode Power Supply) evaluation board designed to convert AC mains to DC for high performance end product applications. The board features a wide input range of 90V to 265VAC and provides multiple outputs of up to 48V and 3.3V at 3A. The board is designed with an isolated topology, consisting of a flyback primary stage circuit, an LLC secondary stage, and two power MOSFETs combined with an optocoupler feedback control circuit. It is ideal for end applications that require efficient power conversion from an AC source, as it has an extremely high efficiency rating of 95%.
The board utilizes advanced power control circuit topologies and approaches such as active PFC (Power Factor Correction), LLC (Zero Voltage Switching) and critical conduction mode (CRM) operation. Active PFC is incorporated in the primary stage circuit to improve the power factor, reduce THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) and achieves high power output capabilities with improved efficiency by controlling the input current to the input reactive power. The LLC stage reduces switching losses with ZVS (Zero Voltage Switching) operation, allowing for higher switching frequencies and improved efficiency. The CRM stage reduces energy loss in the secondary MOSFET which increases the overall system efficiency.
The board also comes equipped with a adjustable output voltage system, enabling the end product to have variable output voltage capabilities. The adjustable output voltage system consists of a microcontroller and a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) feedback loop in order to control and regulate the secondary stage. Additionally, the board features an output ripple current and voltage balancing system which allows for parallel connected outputs for high power applications and optimizes the output power even when the load is non-symmetrical and has high input fluctuations.
The board also includes various protection features such as over-voltage and over-temperature protection as well as over-current protection on the output side of the board. Furthermore, built-in soft-start circuitry prevents inrush current on the input side while the enable/disable function allows the user to comfortably and quickly choose between the standby and operating modes of the board.
The IRPP3637-06A evaluation board is an ideal solution for applications that require high performance and efficient power conversion from an AC source.
