Working Principle

The IRU1010CS is a linear voltage regulator which utilizes the concept of a voltage reference and feedback circuit to accurately regulate the output voltage. It is essentially an error amplifier that attempts to maintain the output voltage at a preset value by driving the error amplifier\'s output high or low depending on the actual value of the output voltage. The voltage reference used to compare the output voltage with is typically a band gap voltage reference or other stable voltage source.

The error amplifier output is then used to control the gate voltage of the pass element - typically an enhancement mode MOSFET. By varying the gate voltage, the pass element is accurately controlled to regulate the output voltage.
