The ISL54222IRUEVAL1Z Evaluation Board is a platform for the ISL54222I high-performance, single output, 1A, ultra-small foot-print/low profile, low-voltage, low dropout (LDO) linear regulator. Designed for applications requiring a regulated output over a wide input voltage range, the ISL54222I device offers a combination of wide input (2.7V to 6.2V) and a low output range (0.8V to 3.3V) for a wide range of applications. The evaluation board includes a 3.3-volt regulator output in a low dropout (LDO) configuration. The device is designed to operate in applications with low-current, low-voltage requirements.
The evaluation board also provides a broad range of features, including: low input voltage such as 2.7V, wide operating temperature range (-40°C to 125°C), fast transient response, low quiescent current, and low dropout voltage (typically 800mV max). It also supports communication via serial peripheral interface (SPI) and programmable output voltage up to 1.2V. Depending on the input voltage, load current and output voltage, the device can sustain stability of its output voltage in the range of 2.7V to 6.2V. In addition, the device features low-quiescent current (typically 8mA) and ultra-fast transient response (3.5us typical).
In order to achieve high power conversion efficiency, the ISL54222I device includes an integrated high-efficiency (up to 84%) step-up DC/DC converter with a selectable frequency of up to 1 MHz. The evaluation board also features a selectable various output frequencies of 2.5MHz and 4MHz. The selectable frequency range of the board enables users to maximize efficiency for low-power applications to reduce power consumption.
The evaluation board also provides the user with the option to select between two-wire SPI and three-wire SPI modes for fast setting of the output voltage. The three-wire SPI mode provides a simple method for the user to set the output voltage. The voltage setting can be done by programming the voltage output registers and the input voltage registers with the SPI. The voltage regulator also provides protection against undervoltage lockout (UVLO), overvoltage protection (OVP) and open- loop protection.
The ISL54222I evaluation board also provides several features that enable users to evaluate the performance of the device in an application. This includes a test port, programmable current sense resistor, enabling users to monitor the frequency, efficiency, output current, and output voltage. The board also includes an operating LED, an over-temperature indicator LED, and a jumper switch for selecting between two-wire and three-wire SPI operation.
