The ISL55005IEZ-T7 is a differential, 4.5GHz, low noise amplifier. It utilizes a double-balanced Gilbert cell topology to achieve wideband performance in a compact form factor. With power supply, off-chip inductors, and resistors, the amplifier provides an excellent gain and noise figure performance from DC to 4.5GHz.

Applications

The ISL55005IEZ-T7 is designed to meet the RF amplifier needs of a wide range of applications. In the communications and military/aerospace sectors, it is ideal for a variety of receiver front-end tasks such as gain control, preamplifiers, IF amplifiers, and transmitters. Working Principle

The ISL55005IEZ-T7 operates on a differential topology, consisting of a pair of Gilbert cells, each one providing a gain of 34dB. Each cell has its own use of a single BJT and NMOS transistors sourcing and sinking current, and thus forming a differential amplifier that provides differential current gain. The transistors are connected in a large loop via the collectors, and the differential outputs from the loop are used to drive the load impedance and provide current gain.

The device offers a high slew rate (32kHz) which aids in its noise figure performance. Additionally, the device can operate over a wide supply voltage range from 1.7V to 6V and over a wide temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. Also, there is on-chip CMFB bias which guarantees linearity and helps maintain gain over the varying temperature range.
