ISL5585ECRZ-TK Application Field and Working Principle The ISL5585ECRZ-TK from Intersil is part of the company’s HotPlug™ low voltage differential signaling (LVDS) interface family. It is ideal for harsh and heavy-load conditions found in mobile phones, digital cameras and other image-processing systems. The device can be used as both a transmitter and receiver and provides very high data rates.The device comes with two separate power supplies, one for the signal circuitry and one for the support circuitry, which helps to reduce power consumption. The power supply selection lines (PSEL) allow the user to choose the desired power mode – either full power mode (which is active during communication) or low power mode (which will only consume power when receiving data). The device also features Power Down Mode, where the entire system will be powered down to conserve power.The device has a dedicated clock generation unit that uses a 2.5GHz clock source to generate and output a 400kHz LVDS clock signal. This clock signal is then used to generate the LVDS serial data output. The internal crystal oscillator and PLL (phase-locked loop) are used to generate the necessary synch signals, while the LVDS data rate can be programmed through the use of serial port address pins.The transmitter portion of the device consists of a low power differential driver and receiver, with a programmable output voltage, adjustable output amplitude and very low offset. The receiver portion of the device contains a comparator with on-chip programmable thresholds, which allows for a wide range of input voltages.The ISL5585ECRZ-TK is a cost-effective and efficient solution for applications that require transmission and reception of digital data in mobile phones, digital cameras and other image-processing systems.
