It operates in one of two modes: Power off mode and Off to On mode.Power Off Mode:In Power Off mode, the device is disabled and the output is in the low impedance state. The low RDS(on) FET allows quick power connection to the external load.Off-To-On Mode:In Off to On mode, the device will detect when an in-rush current is supplied by the external power source. The device will compare the current limit setpoint to the actual load current and limit the current when the load current exceeds the setpoint.When the current exceeds the maximum programmed current limit, the device will reduce the load current to prevent overloading on the external power supply. This will increase the time for the in-rush current to rise, thus protecting the load from over-voltage conditions.The device also features thermal shutdown for additional protection. If the temperature exceeds the thermal-shutdown temperature, the device will shut down and the output FET will be disabled.
