ISL6416IA, manufactured by Intersil, is a high power Triple Output Step Down Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) Controller. It provides complete current and voltage regulation to a variety of systems. As it is a high power voltage regulator, the ISL6416IA is ideal for applications with multiple output power supply rails, and is widely used in the industrial, communications and automotive markets. The ISL6416IA provides three independent outputs that support up to 20V voltage regulation, and high current operation up to 10A. It is designed to operate over an extended operating temperature range from -40 to +150 degrees Celsius, and features an adaptive loop control architecture providing improved system efficiency and flexibility over typical converters. The ISL6416IA is designed to supply the power to a wide variety of processors and peripheral devices, with an operating frequency range from 325 kHz to 2 MHz. The operating frequency can be changed with an external feedback resistor to adjust the output voltage. Additionally, the ISL6416IA includes a programmable UVLO of ranges from 5V to 14V, an adjustable soft start and an adjustable maximum duty cycle of up to 100. The ISL6416IA works on the principle of voltage regulation. It is designed to adjust the output voltage based on the input voltage and a voltage regulator control loop. The voltage regulator control loop consists of an error amplifier, a comparator, and a resistance network. The error amplifier compares a reference voltage (set by the user) to the output voltage and produces a signal based on the differences between the two.
