The ISL6527IR-T is a non-synchronous, wide input range, high performance, and low standby current buck controller. It is specifically designed for applications in the Point of Load (PoL) voltage regulation space where complex sequencing and/or power-rail tracking is required.

The ISL6527IR-T is packaged in an 8-lead and 14-lead 4mm x 4mm QFN package and is suitable for industrial, computing and consumer application, such as notebook and desktop PC, LCD monitor, and motherboard.

The ISL6527IR-T has innovative non-synchronous switching topology that allows for a wide input voltage range from 7V to 30V (ER version up to 60V). The internal PWM comparator provides a wide operating range from 0.6V to 5V. The ISL6527IR-T has a fast, low-side MOSFET gate driver with a maximum frequency of 3MHz, enabling compact design and high efficiency.

This reduces overall cost and enables designers to reach stringent compliance standards of the latest high performance computing, networking, and telecom and automotive applications. Flexibility of the IC allows easy implementation of multiple, simultaneous, rail-tracking options in a single IC solution.

The ISL6527IR-T operates with an external loop compensation scheme. It is designed with an adaptive slope compensation, which reduces the total external part count. The running frequency is adjustable from 200kHz to 3MHz by an external resistor. A shutdown control pin is provided for power saving and dynamic power management.

The ISL6527IR-T also includes undervoltage lockout, hiccup-mode overcurrent protection, adjustable short-circuit protection, thermal protection and overvoltage protection. This makes the IC suitable for a wide range of demanding applications. It provides the highest performance, lowest power consumption and the smallest footprint for advanced switching regulator designs.

At the heart of the ISL6527IR-T is an internal voltage regulator that provides a regulated 0.6V to 5V voltage range to the PWM comparator. This allows the use of efficient external MOSFETs, resulting in a highly efficient regulator. The PWM comparator compares the 0.6V to 5V voltage reference with the feedback voltage at the FB pin. The PWM converter compares the regulated voltage output to the feedback voltage, and the difference is converted into a duty cycle that the PWM output is duty cycled in.

The ISL6527IR-T provides excellent transient performance, low noise, and tight line regulations. The device is surge tolerant for input transient voltages up to 80V, and is characterized for guaranteed output noise and transient performance. The ISL6527IR-T is an excellent choice for applications that require tight output voltage regulation, fast transient response, and excellent power savings.
