The ISL79988-EVAL is an evaluation and demonstration board and kit designed for evaluating and demonstrating the features of Intersil\'s ISL79988 energy-efficient integrated DC/DC step-down voltage regulator. The kit is based on the ISL79988, a single buck regulator IC optimized for mixed signal battery-powered designs. It offers low quiescent current, a wide input voltage range, and excellent line and load regulation.The ISL79988-EVAL evaluation and demonstration board and kit includes a reference design board, power supply module, power inductor, heat sink, opto-coupler, set of jumper wires, and a USB cable. It also includes the ISL79988 energy-efficient integrated DC/DC step-down voltage regulator, an integrated load switch, high-side MOSFET current and power telemetry, and a high-side MOSFET temperature limit circuit.The purpose of the evaluation board is to demonstrate the features of the ISL79988 voltage regulator. It allows designers to evaluate and compare performance characteristics such as line regulation, load regulation, dropout voltage, ripple, cost effectiveness, thermal performance, and more. The board also supports a wide range of input voltages (2.5V - 20V) and an adjustable output voltage ranging from 0.8V to 6V.The main working principle of the ISL79988-EVAL is to provide an adjustable output voltage using a buck regulator. When the input voltage increases, the buck regulator reduces the input current to maintain the output voltage constant. It also features a high-side MOSFET current and power telemetry to measure the current and voltage and a high-side MOSFET temperature limit circuit that increases output power and efficiency. Additionally, a separate opto-coupler output can be used to monitor the input voltage and an optional power-good signal can be configured to indicate when the regulator is in good operating condition.Overall, the ISL79988-EVAL evaluation and demonstration board and kit is an ideal platform for evaluating and demonstrating the features of Intersil\'s ISL79988 energy-efficient integrated DC/DC step-down voltage regulator.
