Working Principle

The ISL85402IRZ-T uses a synchronous buck converter with a low RDSon integrated MOSFET to achieve high efficiency and tight regulation. It has a closed loop analog/digital control scheme which regulates output voltage as a pulse-width-modulated (PWM) voltage based on the voltage set point of the power stage. The core power stage operates across a wide input voltage range of 12V to 40V and wide output voltage range of 0.74V to 40V with a 0.95V +/- 0.01V operating range. The output voltage is sensed and fed to the internal voltage error amplifier which compares it to the externally set or internally set Vref. The difference between these two voltages is then used to compute the appropriate duty cycle which is put out of the PWM comparator and drives the lower MOSFET.
