The ISL8841AMUZ-T is a small size, low-cost synchronous buck MOSFET gate driver with a charge pump. This integrated driver has excellent capability to drive the high-current MOSFET, making it an ideal choice for DC-DC switching applications. It provides a wide operating temperature range, LDO functionality and programmable features such as soft start, current limit and thermal warning and shutdown. The ISL8841AMUZ-T is designed to be used in a variety of DC-DC applicatons such as: Power Supplies, DC-DC Converters, Automotive, Industrial and Telecom Applications.The ISL8841AMUZ-T is a dual MOSFET driver which consists of two half-bridges that drive two external high-side and low-side MOSFETs. The high-side MOSFET is driven through an external bootstrap circuit. The low-side MOSFET is driven by a low-side gate driver. The gate drivers are controlled by a charge pump and an on-chip voltage regulator operating from an input voltage supply range from a low of 2.5V up to 18V. The charge pump produces up to 20V at the integrated output boost pins for the high-side external MOSFETs.The ISL8841AMUZ-T is a synchronous buck MOSFET driver, so it operates by switching the high-side and low-side MOSFETs on and off at a predetermined frequency determined by an external clock signal applied to the device. The ISL8841AMUZ-T uses a freewheeling diode across the inductor to protect the MOSFETs from damage due to an inductor kick back voltage spike when the MOSFETs turn off.The ISL8841AMUZ-T also features several protection features designed to prevent damage to the external MOSFETs if an over-current or over-temperature condition occurs. These protection features include over-current detection, over-voltage protection, under-voltage protection, over-temperature protection and short-circuit protection.The ISL8841AMUZ-T is ideal for a wide variety of applications such as power supplies, DC-DC converters, point of load (POL) converters, automotive, industrial and telecom applications. And the wide operating temperature range makes the ISL8841AMUZ-T well suited for use in a variety of environments.In summary, the ISL8841AMUZ-T is an integrated MOSFET driver designed for use in a variety of DC-DC applications. It features a synchronous buck driver, external bootstrap circuit, charge pump and voltage regulator, as well as several protection features.
