The IW1830-EVAL evaluation board is designed for applications such as DC-DC and AC-DC (off-line) SMPS. This board is designed to evaluate IW1830 PPG ICs featuring a wide range of power and efficiency. This evaluation board allows every user to evaluate the performance of IW1830 PPG ICs in constant power mode, constant currentmode, and constant voltage mode. The IW1830-EVAL board also offers the possibility to control the output current with a 0-5V control signal.
IW1830-EVAL boardhas several features that make it unique in the evaluation board market. It offers high performance and low-ripple outputs tailored for SMPS applications, and it has two-step current control for improved efficiency. In addition, the board\'s user-friendly graphical user interface allows intuitive operation, providing complete control of bias conditions and output power.
The IW1830-EVAL board uses resonant synchronous rectification and synchronous soft-start to provide improved output performance. The resonant synchronous rectification eliminates the need for an output filter, reducing size and complexity. Synchronous soft-start eliminates the need to select a startup resistor, simplifying part selection and layout.
This evaluation board also features most mode protection functions such as overvoltage protection, under-voltage protection, over-temperature protection, short-circuit protection, and over-current protection. It also features an input overvoltage lockout and an output power limit. These features protect the IC from damage during normal operation.
The IW1830-EVAL board is also designed for use with the IW1830 sample IC. It features an adjustable output short-circuit timer (SCT) and an adjustable output off-time delay (OTD). The SCT helps in limiting the maximum switching frequency to prevent IC damage during short-circuit conditions. The OTD helps to decrease the peak current when the output voltage is switched off and helps to reduce the overshoot in the output voltage during power-on.
