  • JAN1N2825B Application Field and Working Principle

JAN1N2825B is a Zener diode, which is a single diode type. Zener diodes are primarily used to provide a regulated voltage in applications where other forms of regulation are not required. The diode itself is a p-n junction diode, which is made from a material such as silicon. When the diode is forward biased, current will flow from the anode to the cathode and the voltage across the diode is determined by the voltage drops across the p-n junctions. When the diode is reverse biased, current will not flow, but the diode’s voltage remains the same.

JAN1N2825B is designed to provide a low impedance path for reverse currents in the range of 0.5 Volts to 50 Volts. The diode\'s maximum continuous operating voltage is 55 V and its power dissipation is 150 mW. The maximum current capacity of the diode is 95 mA. Additionally, the JAN1N2825B has a low capacitance making it suitable for applications requiring fast switching and waveform shaping. In addition to its usage as a voltage regulator, JAN1N2825B can also be used as a voltage clamp. In this application, the diode is connected in series with a load, such as a voltage amplifier. When the voltage across the diode and the load reaches the Zener voltage, the diode conducts and a large amount of current passes through it, clamping the voltage across the load to the Zener voltage.

JAN1N2825B can also be used in a Zener clamp circuit. In this application, the diode is connected in series with a resistor. When the voltage across the diode and resistor reaches the Zener voltage, the diode will conduct and will clamp the voltage across the resistor to the Zener voltage. This circuit is used to provide protection against over voltages and transients.
