One such diode is the JAN1N4967D (also known as a 1N4749A), which is a zener diode with a single junction. It is primarily used in regulating and/or buffering voltage to limit current as well as for over-voltage protection.

The JAN1N4967D is an addition to the very well known family of 1N4148 silicon diodes. This diode has a reverse breakdown voltage of 4.7 volts, and it has a high power rating of 500 mW (with respect to 125°C). This diode has a maximum continuous forward current of 500 mA and a maximum forward voltage drop of 1.1V.

This diode is commonly used in automatic sets, where it can help protect the TV sets from being damaged due to over-voltage caused by lightning and other voltage spikes.
