Single diodes are widely used in power systems as electrostatic protection, rectification and automatic control. The single diode is usually applied to the symmetrical three-phase full-wave rectifier circuit, which can realizing the freewheeling current or supplying power to the load. In general, single diodes are categorized typically as one rectifier diode, two rectifier diodes, three rectifier diodes, and four rectifier diodes. An example of a single diode is the JAN1N5711UR-1. This diode is mainly used for AC to DC rectification, voltage clamping, voltage multipliers for high voltage generation, and in RF and optical communications for signal mixing. The reverse voltage rating is the maximum voltage (in the reverse direction) that can be applied to the diode before it breaks down. The JAN1N5711UR-1 has a reverse voltage rating of 200V.
