The JAN1N6115 is constructed from silicon-based PN-junction semiconductor material. It uses a breakdown voltage of between 3 and 15V and a peak pulse power dissipation of up to 600W. When exposed to overvoltage transients, it acts to reduce the transient’s potential to a safer level for the protected circuit. This process is achieved through suppression of overvoltage in the form of a dynamic clamp, limiting the voltage level to that of its clamp voltage. It is also capable of obtaining low clamping voltage factors, as seen in its low leakage current of ≤ 5μA.
The JAN1N6115 also has high maximum surge current capabilities, with up to 1500A peak pulse current when the peak pulse voltage exceeds the breakdown voltage. The cutoff frequency of the clamping circuit is higher than all symmetrical surge pulses in common mode surge tests. The device also obtains a high peak pulse power Zenor diode. It offers large energy absorption capability of up to 600W at a voltage of 8V.
