Electric double layer capacitors (EDLC), also known as supercapacitors, are capacitors with capacitances exceeding 2000 farads and fast charge/discharge rates. This makes them particularly suitable for applications where power is needed quickly but not used for prolonged periods. They are often used as a bridge between traditional power supplies and circulating currents in order to stabilize them.
