AC DC Converters

The JWS753/R is a type of AC to DC converter that is used in various applications. It is an SMPS (switched-mode power supply) converter that is used to convert a single voltage source or alternating current into a DC voltage output. The JWS753/R has a voltage range of 85V AC up to 530V AC and its output voltage ranges from 24V DC up to 55V DC. The power efficiency of the converter is at least 82%, and it has fast reverse current blocking capability with a maximum reverse leakage of 0.1µA. It has also been designed to provide maximum protection and reliability in industrial and domestic electronic applications.

Working Principle

The JWS753/R works by using an inbuilt full bridge rectifier, which consists of four diodes. When a voltage is applied to the AC input terminals, the input voltage is rectified by the diode bridge circuit and the output voltage of the bridge is acquired at the DC output terminals. The power conversion efficiency of the JWS753/R is dependent on the switching frequency of the converter and its input voltage ability.

The switching frequency of the JWS753/R can be adjusted using a trim-pot that is located on the converter. The trim-pot is used to change the duty cycle of the oscillator that is responsible for switching the transistors within the converter, thus changing the conversion efficiency of the JWS753/R. In order to modify the input voltage range, an external potentiometer is used to change the AC voltage that is being supplied to the converter.

The JWS753/R also has an internal thermal protection system, which will shut off the converter if the internal temperature becomes dangerously high. The converter can also be set to an Auto-Restart mode, which will restart the converter when the temperature drops back to a safe level. The converter also has short-circuit protections and is able to reset itself after a short circuit is detected.
