The K1300S is a special SCR (Thyristor) designed to offer a high level of output rectification efficiency, as well as reliable protection against over-current and over-temperature failure. The K1300S is mainly suitable for medium-voltage power supply systems and specialized electronic equipment.The working principle of the K1300S is based on the behavior of the Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR). An SCR is a semiconductor switch, which consists of four layers of alternating N-type and P-type silicon material, connected within the four-layer diode structure. The SCR is triggered by a voltage applied to the gate terminal, which causes an internal current flow between the two main electrodes (known as the Anode and Cathode). This results in a potentiometrically controlled conduction between the Anode and Cathode terminals of the SCR, capable of handling large currents over its rated voltage range.The working of the K1300S also includes the DIAC and SIDAC thyristors, which are used to better control and regulate the conduction between the Anode and Cathode terminals. DIACs and SIDACs are two-terminal, variable-threshold, bidirectional AC switches that begin conduction at a predetermined voltage (DIACs require a positive voltage, while SIDACs require a negative voltage). When the gate of the SCR is triggered, it is the DIAC or SIDAC which determines the angle of conduction and consequently the level of current that can flow through the device. The K1300S is designed to offer high power rectification efficiency, with very low leakage and high voltage stability.
