Optoisolators consist of one or more optically coupled or isolated input sections and one or more electrically isolated output section, which provide a degree of electrical isolation up to 2500 V equivalently. K3020PG is an optoisolator which can be classified into Triac, SCR Output type. In this article, the application field and working principle of K3020PG will be discussed.

K3020PG is a DC input phototriac coupler and built in zero cross detect circuit that consists of gallium arsenide infrared emitting diode and a four-quadrant bidirectional triac (GTO) as the output rated 1.5A at 500V. Its minimum operating current is 1mA and its trigger intensity is 10 mA. It uses an integrated optical isolation system that isolates the input from the output and provides a high degree of electrical insulation. The output can be set for AC, DC, or pulse operation. It has an operating temperature range of -25-80 °C, and a storage temperature range of -30-100°C.

K3020PG is designed for a wide range of applications, including AC and DC control circuits, motor speed control, pulse motor control, voltage regulating, switching systems, and lighting control.
