Optoisolators - Triac, SCR Output, including K3022PG, are components used to electrically isolate circuits. These optoisolators allow a low voltage signal to control a higher voltage circuit or line without any direct electrical connection. Opto-isolators use a light-emitting diode (LED) and a photodetector, such as a phototransistor, optically coupled in a solid state device. The LED light source is electrically connected to the isolated input side of the circuit. The photodetector on the output side of the device is then activated when the light from the LED impinges on it, and the load attached to the optoisolator output is then triggered.
K3022PG is an optoisolator that has a Triac output with zero-crossing function. It is ideal for both industrial and household applications, as it provides electrical isolation and high surge voltage protection. The optoisolator features an 8-pin DIP (dual in-line package) and is rated for commercially/industrial operating temperatures.
K3022PG optoisolator includes a photo-coupler, phototriac, and a zero-crossing detector on a single monolithic integrated circuit. The photo-coupler provides a high speed, high voltage isolation with a high reliability level. Its phototriac allows output current up to 1A. The zero-crossing detector provides a stable output state in order to minimize the effects of power line noise and make the device work reliably in demanding environments.
The working principle of K3022PG can be summarized as follows. Light from the LED side of the device triggers the phototriac output on the other side. When the LED output is short-circuited, the photo-coupler is set to a conduction state, allowing the gate to be activated and the load to be driven. This action causes the output voltage to decrease. When load is removed, the output voltage is off again. The output switching signal can also be generated by using pulse input with a zero-crossing detector, ensuring repeatable low level switching.
