The K43C232 is an 8-bit Bidirectional Analog Front-EndBus Interface (BAF) designed for use in a wide range of application fields. It provides efficient data conversion, synchronization, and control between two independent Analog Front End buses. This device can be interfaced to a variety of digital ICs, such as microcontrollers and Digital Signal Processors (DSPs), to provide a complete interface solution for data acquisition and control applications.
The K43C232’s unidirectional transceiver architecture provides a high performance, low power, low cost, and low noise solution for data conversion and synchronization between two independent A/D or D/A converters. The device can be used in either an open loop or closed loop configuration, depending on the application requirements.
The K43C232 BAF is an 8-bit Ethernet to analog interface transceiver compatible with multiple-bit buses. It is optimized for access to analog data. It is susceptible to bus contention. It was designed to bridge an Ethernet network to an analog front end bus and provide bidirectional data communication between two independent A/D or D/A converters.
The K43C232 uses a proprietary synchronous-serial protocol called GOCh (Gating Outputs to Channels) that enables it to perform data transfer between two independent A/D or D/A converters. The protocol operates over a number of channels, each with a unique 8-bit address. When two devices with their GOCh packets access the same channel, a handshaking process is initiated to determine which device will access the channel.
The GOCh bus protocol also enables the device to provide a predictable transfer latency with simple timing requirements and can operate over a wide range of data rates, from 10Kbps to 400Kbps. The K43C232 can also support multiple transfer protocols, such as SPI, I2C or GPIB.
