KS8995E-EVAL is an evaluation and demonstration board and kit developed for use in Ethernet switching applications. It is based on a single-chip solution using a Marvell KS-8995E switch with full-duplex, four-port Ethernet and power over Ethernet (PoE) functionality. The board includes a variety of interface connectors and ports, allowing for quick and easy integration into an existing design.
In addition to standard four-port Ethernet switching capabilities, the KS8995E-EVAL board also provides for a wide range of custom applications and features. It is designed to support multiple network protocols, including IEEE802.3/802.11n standards; allow for manual or automatic network configuration; and provide for low power consumption, allowing for 24/7 data exchange capability. Additionally, the board supports zero-configuration network auto-configuration, providing for a self-contained comprehensive network solution.
The KS8995E-EVAL evaluation and demonstration board is designed to operate at a maximum of 200 Mbps of throughput. Its integrated Marvell KS-8995E switch is capable of supporting multiple network protocols and multiple services simultaneously. The board features a mix of line side and power side connectors, allowing for quick and easy integration into existing designs and allowing for a cost-effective solution for any Ethernet switching application.
The excellent performance and high reliability of the KS8995E-EVAL board are largely due to its advanced working principle which supports a common control plane architecture. This architecture enables the communication between switches and other networking devices such as routers and other end-user devices to be extremely efficient. This works by supporting both Layer 2 switching and Layer 3 routing schemes, which allows it to route traffic between the network segments quickly and efficiently.
In addition, the KS8995E-EVAL board also includes several advanced features, which further enhance its functionality and reliability. These features include: support for a variety of IP-based protocols; support for network redundancy, as well as a variety of port aggregation technologies; support for a variety of quality of service (QoS) technologies; and support for advanced security features such as access control lists (ACLs).
