KSZ8041RNLI-TR is a 10/100Mbps low-power Ethernet physical layer (PHY) transceiver designed for use on existing Cat.5 physical media. It is designed to comply with the IEEE 802.3U standard and supports data rates up to 100Mbps in half-duplex mode or 10Mbps in full-duplex mode.
The KSZ8041RNLI-TR PHY utilizes a four-class segmented MII (Media Independent Interface) for communication with the host microcontroller. The four-class MII provides access to extended registers for special functions such as simple auto-negotiation, diagnostics,and two-port addressing. The low-power KSZ8041RNLI-TR is fully compliant with both 1000BaseT and 100BaseT requirements (Ethernet standards), including Tx and Rx signaling. This PHY transceiver supports adaptive mixing for wide cable compatibility and has a maximum cable length of up to 100 meters, supporting Power-down, Sleep, and Wake mode.
The interface of the KSZ8041RNLI-TR is composed of three major parts: drivers, receivers and transceivers. The drivers provide the signal power to the cables and the transceivers control the data flow between the PHY and the cables. The receivers convert the received signals into a digital format which can then be handled by the PHY. Additionally, the interface also features an LED transceiver and adjustable termination resistors which can be used to isolate the PHY from the network and to customize the PHY\'s impedance matching.
