Motion sensors, or accelerometers, provide inertial feedback that measures linear or rotational motion. The KX112-1042-SR accelerometer is designed for ruggedized acceleration measurements in harsh environments.
This device is a 3-axis piezoelectric accelerometer with a measurement range of ±2 g (± 19.6 m/s2) in the X, Y, and Z axes. It has a low noise floor of 0.01 mg RMS, and a shock survivability to 5000 g. It is calibrated to a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
The KX112-1042-SR is ideal for automotive, industrial, and medical applications that require reliable acceleration measurement, such as anti-lock braking systems, ride quality control, drag measurements, and vibration monitoring. The device’s hermetic sealing and pipeline protection make it suitable for harsh conditions such as salt water exposure, high-pressure washdowns, high- and low- temperature environments, and exposure to shock, vibration, and humidity.
The accelerometer works by detecting change in a steady force caused by acceleration or deceleration. The physical movement of the accelerometer’s sensing element is used to generate an electrical signal proportional to the applied force. This signal is then transmitted to a processing system or other device for further analysis and take action accordingly.
The output from the KX112-1042-SR accelerometer is in the form of a charge signal which can be converted to an alternating current signal with the help of a charge amplifier. The output from the charge amplifier is proportional to the acceleration measured by the accelerometer. This output is then passed through a low-pass filter to filter out high-frequency noise and further amplified and converted to a voltage output.
The KX112-1042-SR accelerometer is shock resistant, corrosion resistant, and has a very low noise floor. Its robust design and reliable performance make it an ideal choice for a wide range of acceleration measurement applications.
