Applications of L4962E/A
The L4962E/A is a highly integrated controller specifically designed for powering small, low voltage systems in industrial, communications and consumer applications. Working Principle of L4962E/A

When the limit is reached, the power transistor turns off and the diode switches from conduction to cut-off. At this point, the voltage across the inductor begins to reduce. When the power transistor turns on again, the diode switches from cut-off to conduction, and the energy stored in the inductor is discharged into a load.
As the inductor is charged and discharged, the regulator adjusts its duty cycle according to the applied input voltage and the voltage across the output capacitor, thus regulating the output voltage. When the duty cycle is decreased, the current through the inductor decreases, as does the current in the power transistor, resulting in a lower power dissipation. This makes the L4962E/A highly efficient and allows it to be very small in size, which in turn increases the power efficiency of the whole system.
In addition to the efficient power saving design, the L4962E/A also features both current mode and voltage mode control to reliably assure fast loop compensation, overcurrent protection and soft start. The current mode operates on a constant current limitation principle, which monitors the load current and prevents it from exceeding a certain preset level by controlling the driven power transistor. The voltage mode uses a pulse width modulation signal to adjust the output voltage according to the applied input voltage.
The L4962E/A also includes a series of regulators, protections and auxiliary control functions such as over temperature protection, current limitation, voltage positioning, remote shutdown and over current protection.
