The L6751B provides five adjustable voltage lines: two for input, two for output and one for controlling the output stage. The L6751B also operates in a synchronous mode when used in automotive and telecom applications, further increasing its efficiency and providing a more predictable output.The L6751B operates in three distinct operating modes, each offering the user different performance characteristics. The first mode is non-tracking, which is the default mode to be used when both the input and output of the regulator are static. This mode is preferred in applications that do not need to track any changes to the input voltage or output load. The second mode is tracking, which is best suited to applications where the input and output voltages may need to be tracked, such as automotive and telecom applications, or applications where there is a high degree of voltage load shifting. The third mode is synchronous, which is the most efficient and predictable mode for automotive and telecom applications. In the tracking mode, the L6751B provides two tracking sources: the input voltage and the output voltage. The user has the option of configuring the MOSFETs to track either one or both the sources. In the synchronous mode, the L6751B provides two tracking frequencies, one for the input and the other for the output voltage.
