Working principle of LE80ABZ
The basic working principle of the LE80ABZ is that it outputs a regulated voltage of 5V, 6V, 8V or 12V depending on the input voltage, load current and output voltage selected. The output voltage is maintained despite changes in the load current or temperature.
The LE80ABZ consists of an error amplifier, an NPN power transistor, a 2.5V reference voltage, current limit circuitry and thermal shutdown circuitry. When the input voltage is applied to the regulator, the error amplifier senses the difference between the 2.5V reference voltage and the output voltage. If the output voltage is lower than the reference voltage, the error amplifier will increase the base current of the NPN power transistor, causing the voltage output to increase. If the output voltage is higher than the reference voltage, the error amplifier will decrease the base current of the NPN power transistor, causing the voltage output to decrease. This process continues until the output voltage reaches the reference voltage. At this stage, the output voltage remains constant.
In addition, LE80ABZ has over-current protection and thermal shutdown to protect against device failure. The over-current protection circuitry will limit the output current to a safe level when the load is too high. The thermal shutdown circuitry can shut down the device when the temperature rises above a specified level. This will prevent the device from being damaged due to too high a temperature.
