The LM2735XMFEVAL is an evaluation board designed to allow users to test and measure the performance of the LM2735 TO220 step-down synchronous buck regulator. This evaluation board is part of the DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supply) family.

The LM2735 is a high efficiency, ultra low noise step down synchronous buck regulator. It has adjustable output voltage from 0.7V to 3.3V, output current up to 2.5A, and Power Good output from 0.20V to 0.51V. It achieves high efficiency from 97.8% at 2.5A and a low quiescent current of 13uA in standby. The LM2735\'s 0.5A peak current mode control architecture provides excellent line and load transient response, as well as fast switching speeds. This translates into high-performance for DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS applications.

The LM2735XMFEVAL evaluation board works by taking input from a 9V power source or USB supply. The input voltage is set using an adjustable range switch. The board then regulates the voltage using the LM2735 device. The buck regulator is configured using two external resistors connected on their respective pins to adjust the source-drain voltage and set the output voltage. By switching the range switch, the user is able to select various fixed output voltage; 5V or 3.3V. The source-drain voltage will then be automatically adjusted accordingly. The output voltage is available on the output pads and is protected from short-circuit by the 0.75A protection limiting resistor.

The LM2735XMFEVAL Evaluation Board includes a Power Good (FB) output to indicate the regulation status of the output voltage. This section includes a green LED, and a schottky diode to provide a weak pull-up voltage to an external MCU. The output voltage of the board can also be measured by connecting a multimeter between the output pad and ground.

The LM2735XMFEVAL has a low noise start-up, low ripple, as well as current-mode and soft start features to help regulate the output voltage. A power switch is also included which the user can operate to switch the output voltage on and off.
